Accreditations

MBD Contracting has invested substantial effort into developing and implementing robust operating systems that are critical to our success.

We are committed to continuously refining our systems to uphold and exceed industry standards. Our relentless pursuit of excellence not only ensures compliance but also earns us prestigious certifications, reflecting our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality and operational integrity.

The company has experienced remarkable growth and improvements at various stages during the business’s operations.

  • Since 2007, we have maintained our Kiwi Rail Prequalification for Physical Works where we supply specialised hi-rail plant, operators, and civil equipment for the West Coast rail network; a relationship we continue through to today.
  • In 2009, efforts were focused on enhancing the safety management system in preparation for an ACC audit. The outcome was outstanding: the company achieved ACC WSMP tertiary level on its first attempt—a feat that is quite rare for first-time applicants.
  • Building on this success, in 2010 the company sought prequalification with the New Zealand Transport Agency, earning prequalification at Level B in two classifications. This achievement opened up opportunities for tendering on larger earthworks and civil construction projects, allowing collaboration with major head contractors.
  • Throughout 2011 the company made significant advancements in its internal systems, leading to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. These accolades reflect our dedication to high standards of quality and environmental management. By refining our processes and practices, we set a benchmark for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • With the phasing out of ACC WSMP certification in 2017, the company seamlessly transitioned to the AS/NZS 4801 Health and Safety certification. The shift reflected our ongoing commitment to maintaining robust safety management systems. This certification enhanced our focus on workplace safety and health, ensuring we continue to meet and exceed industry standards while safeguarding our employees and operations.
  • Upgrading our safety management system from AS/NZS 4801 to ISO 45001 Health and Safety certification in 2020, represented a significant enhancement in our approach to workplace safety. ISO 45001 provided a more comprehensive framework for identifying and managing risks, promoting a proactive safety culture, and ensuring continual improvement. This transition not only aligned us with international best practices but also strengthened our commitment to employee well-being. By adopting ISO 45001, we are better equipped to engage our workforce, reduce incidents, and create a safer, healthier work environment for everyone.
