January 2024 – December 2025
This project is for the five stages of the proposed Greymouth Floodwall upgrades. This is for the construction and completion of all work associated with the raising of the existing stopbanks and construction of rock armouring.
As of now, Stage 1 and Stage 3 of the contract have been successfully completed. The gravel stopbank stretching from ANZAC Park to Johnson Street has been raised by 600mm to improve flood protection and enhance the structural integrity of the embankment. Following this, the stopbank was topsoiled and hydroseeded to promote vegetation growth and ensure long-term stability of the surface. This process also contributes to reducing erosion and maintaining the natural landscape. The access ramp at ANZAC Park was also upgraded as part of the overall project. The ramp was designed to improve accessibility, providing safer and more efficient entry for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Together, these completed stages mark significant progress in the broader contract, reinforcing the area’s resilience to flooding and enhancing the community’s use of the space.
