We also have a large fleet of company vehicles
MBD has a very large versatile range of machinery at its disposal. We pride ourselves on providing the latest models, high performance, well presented and fully maintained machinery on all of our worksites. Our workshop mechanics/engineers complete all our own maintenance work, plant servicing, engineering and mechanical repairs in house. They ensure that all of our plant and equipment is fully serviced to manufacturer’s specifications every 250 hours for trucks, excavators and heavy machinery or 5000kms for light vehicles. Our mechanics are very proactive and insist on doing preventative maintenance on our equipment, so while being serviced they thoroughly check over the machine. A full compliance check is also done prior to official inspections for 155 rail certificates, WOF or COF’s to minimise valuable downtime. All of our machinery and vehicles are equipped with first aid kits and fire extinguishers. The extinguishers are checked every 12 months to ensure they function properly and are replaced if required.
Staff
Staff levels continue to expand with currently 26 staff employed by MBD Contracting consisting of qualified foreman, site supervisors, truck drivers, machinery operators and labourers. They are supported by an efficient, experienced and highly qualified management and administration team.
The directors of MBD are very proud of our experienced, hardworking, highly trained and motivated staff. All of our staff have very high work standards, show pride in our machinery, plant and premises and have great respect for their fellow workers. They are also proactive with keeping themselves informed of industry and MBD’s safety policies, procedures and protocol.
MBD has heavily invested time, money and resources into staff training by ensuring that all staff have the relevant licences and a current comprehensive first aid certificate, as well as other relevant workplace and industry training. We have also been proactive in placing staff on other courses not directly related to their current field of work but will have a benefit to the company.
Quarries
MBD owns two rock quarries, they are situated at Rapahoe and Rotomanu. The rock is granite and is especially suitable for river protection. We have staff that are qualified Quarry Managers and are both experienced in the blasting, loading and placing of the rock. We also hold gravel consents for many locations around the West Coast. We have purpose built rock and gravel decks for our trucks, so are well equipped to cater for all of your cartage requirements.
